Frosé, the delightful frozen rosé, is the drink of summer that everyone will be enjoying until Labor Day. While it's a staple at trendy bars nationwide, many haven't tried crafting it at home. I was one of those people, thinking it required special tools or tricks. But it's actually quite easy! Just prepare a day in advance, and you only need a blender, a freezer, and a nice bottle of rosé. Keep reading to discover the method and a special ingredient that can elevate your frosé above the rest.

These images were captured at Hotel San José, a well-loved destination for frosé in Austin (and yes, the rhyme between José and frosé feels intentional!). I enjoy sipping this frozen treat on their patio whenever I can, but when I crave it at home...
The key to creating the ultimate frosé lies in the strawberry syrup featured in this recipe. Let's be honest: slushy drinks benefit from a touch of sweetness. The strawberries not only enhance the flavor but also boost the pink color, making it a refreshing, fruity option for summer relaxation. Check out the recipe below, and I'd love to hear if you give it a shot!
Ingredients
- 1 bottle rosé
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup halved strawberries
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, plus extra for garnish
Instructions
- Pour the rosé into a rectangular cake pan and freeze overnight (about 8 hours) until nearly solid. It won't freeze completely due to the alcohol content.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar and water, bringing it to a boil. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then remove from heat. Add strawberries and mint, cover, and let steep for an hour to create the simple syrup. Strain and refrigerate the syrup.
- Scrape the frozen rosé into a blender, add lime juice, 1/2 cup of the infused syrup, and 1 cup of ice. Blend until smooth yet slushy. Serve right away, or if it needs to firm up a bit, return the blender to the freezer for 30 minutes until the desired texture is reached (blend again before serving).
- Pour into glasses and enjoy!
*Tip for prep: You can freeze the rosé and chill the simple syrup up to a week ahead!

Ingredients
- 1 bottle rosé
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup halved strawberries
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, plus more for garnish
Instructions
- Pour rosé into a rectangular cake pan, and allow to freeze overnight (8 hours or so) until almost solid. It won't completely firm up due to the alcohol content.
- In a saucepan, bring sugar and water to a boil. Stir to dissolve sugar, then immediately take off the heat. Add strawberries and mint, then cover and allow to sit for 1 hour to infuse the simple syrup. Strain and chill the syrup in the fridge.
- Scrape rosé into a blender, then add the lime juice, 1/2 cup infused syrup, and 1 cup ice. Puree until smooth but still slushy. Serve immediately, or if it needs to harden up a bit, return the blender to the freezer for 30 minutes until desired consistency (blend again before serving.)
- Pour into glasses and drink up!
*Make-ahead tip: Freeze the rosé and chill the simple syrup up to a week in advance!

How much water goes into the simple syrup? It's not listed.
